'Charity Objects' describe what the charity has been set up to do. The objects may also include a description of the way in which they should be pursued or achieved. What is essential, is that workers and trustees don't lose sight of the charity's objects.
When founded, HHEAG's stated objects were "to preserve and protect health and to educate the public about the environment in Hartcliffe and the surrounding area".
As part of the work undertaken to review our organisation, it was felt that after working in this area for 23 years, a review of our charity objects by staff and trustees was in order. The purpose of reviewing our organisation's constitution was to ensure the activities we carry out today are still fit for purpose, and to clarify with the Charities Commission to what extent our charity objects can be amended to reflect the changes in the societal role of organisations such as ours since 1990.
Therefore, our objects were updated last year to: "To promote health equality in South Bristol by supporting residents to make and maintain positive lifestyle changes which will improve their health, wellbeing and the environment in which they live."
