  • Snr. Dev. Worker attended training ’10 steps to the perfect tender’, run by Voscur.
  • Positive Minds manager attended meeting with Bristol social prescribing bidding group: exploring options for bidding for funding to provide mental health services as part of a cross-Bristol consortia.
  • Positive Minds manager attended a meeting with other Bristol-based charities on ‘Social Prescribing’ and how planned changes will affect the way in which Community Mental Health services are funded and delivered. 


February
  • Snr. Dev. Worker attended training ‘Commissioning & Outcomes’.
  • Initial revision of HHEAGs business plan drafted by Snr. Dev. Worker.
  • ‘Supporting Change’ application submitted to Local Food.
  • Positive Minds manager continued working with Bristol social prescribing bidding group.

March
  • Living well event run by Positive Minds in partnership with NHS Community Development Team. This event also provided an excellent networking opportunity for Positive Minds workers. 

April
  • Positive Minds manager continued working with Bristol social prescribing bidding group.
  • Snr. Dev. Worker attended training ’How to be a winning charity’
  • Community Food & Nutrition Worker gives lectures on ‘Social Determinants of Food Choice’ at Bath Spa University & uses this networking opportunity to discuss the option of future projects with undergraduate students documenting factors which “affect the eating and shopping habits of older people in South Bristol, in relation to their health and well-being"


May
  • Finance officer commenced training ‘Business and Administration NVQ Level 3’: undertaking reflective learning as part of modules, used to record the way in which HHEAG works, and the benefits and potential risks inherent in our working style.
  • Positive Minds manager continued working with Bristol social prescribing bidding group.  
  • ‘Supporting Change’ Grant is awarded to HHEAG
  • Monthly briefings to HHEAGs management committee commenced, working though points 1 to 7 shown on the Revised Business Plan shown in ‘Supporting Change’ application. This aspect of the work is key because giving residents a voice is central to the Community Development approach that underpins HHEAGs work.
  • Positive Minds Manager attends a conference hosted by Bristol NHS Primary Care Trust about the ‘Talking Therapies Any Qualified Provider (AQP) Process’.
  • Positive Minds manager continued working with other Bristol-based charities on ‘Social Prescribing’.
  • Community Food & Nutrition Worker attended training ’Learning Communities Tutor Induction’, included advice on tutoring best practice and suggested possible diversification of funding sources.
  • Positive Minds manager continued working with Bristol social prescribing bidding group.


June
  • Community Food & Nutrition Worker and a member of HHEAGs management committee attended ‘Bristol Food Conference’, an excellent networking opportunity with organisations of all sectors involved in local food and sustainability.
  • Snr. Development Worker and Positive Minds Manager attend a ‘Health & Well-being Board strategy meeting’ chaired by BCC Health & Social care department for the 3rd Sector on changes to the structure of Public Health that delivers health care, funding and GP commissioning.
  • Snr. Development Worker attended briefing on changes from block to spot funding in Day Services
  • Briefing detailing section 4 on Training in business plan submitted to committee.
  • Positive Minds manager continued working with Bristol social prescribing bidding group.
  • Positive Minds Manager attends the Mental Health Forum conference: ‘NHS Bristol redesign and re-commissioning of mental health services in Bristol’.


July
  • A member of the volunteer management committee (and local resident) attended ‘Governance training’ run by VOSCUR.
  • Food For All shop and stall workers and volunteers undertook Food Hygiene training, this is part of the organisations compliance with Environmental Health ‘best practice’.
  • Staff ‘toolkit working group’ held an initial though-storm to pace out topics to be covered during toolkit discussions.
  • Staff in various roles undertook training to understand the service offered by NHS ‘PALS’ (Patient Advice & Liaison Service) and hence be able to signpost service users. This also served as a good opportunity for staff to network with other 3rd sector organisations attending this training at the Withywood centre. 
  • Staff ‘toolkit working group’ reviewed the charity Objects – these were changed for clarification and to reduce ambiguity, and bring the wording used up to date.
  • Finance Officer started researching and laying the groundwork for how to go about changing the articles of association. Work done on this shows that HHEAG’s articles are old fashioned and require review and amendment (this is one of the many organisational changes made to get ready for NHS commissioning).
  • Positive Minds Support Worker attending ASSIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), this training also afforded an opportunity for networking with workers from other 3rd Sector organisations, including a homeless shelter, Knowle West Children’s Centre and Bristol Drugs Project.


August
  • Some members of the toolkit working group discussed how best to document the toolkit, and the process used to approach the work to ensure gaps in knowledge or understanding are seen and filled. Working on partnerships was also discussed, with particular reference to the importance of reviewing current partnerships, and exploring and establishing new partnerships to respond to the changing funding environment. The value of ‘soft skills’ (such as influencing skills) and recognising the limits of current knowledge around the tendering and commissioning process.
  • Toolkit working group reviewing HHEAG’s strategic aims and mission statement to ensure these we appropriate, up to date and reflective of the present and future direction of the charity.
  • The proposed change of objects were presented to the management committee and were approved.
  • The revised charity objects were submitted to charities commission for approval.
  •  The toolkit working group continued to review HHEAG’s strategic aims and mission statement.
  • Snr. Development Worker and the Finance Officer reviewed HHEAG’s articles of association.


September
  • PM worker attends facilitator training for helping those in domestic abuse relationships.
  • Staff attend the Charity Accountants Conference 2012.
October
  • Toolkit delivery date.
